Which domestic appliances is Denby safe for use in?
Denby can be safely used for cooking food in a microwave (it is not recommended that the microwave is used for warming plates), oven and for use in the fridge, freezer and dishwasher. Denby recommends using low temperatures and liquid detergents in your dishwasher. All pottery and china can crack if exposed to sudden changes in temperature, no matter how strong it is, so please don't take items from the freezer and put them straight into the oven or microwave, or expose to direct heat sources such as the hob or grill.
Why is there colour variation in some Denby Patterns?
Denby is very much a handcrafted product, where glazes are often applied by hand. A difference of 1/1000th of an inch in glaze thickness can cause a slight variation in colour when the piece is fired. Slight variations in colour are part of the beauty of handcrafted products and means that no two pieces are identical.
Does Denby make their own Glass?
Denby glass is designed by the team at Denby and then handmade and mouthblown for us by renowned glass factories.
Can Denby Glass be used in the Dishwasher?
The colour in Denby glass is created by rolling clear glass in coloured chips and melting them so that they fuse. The result makes the colour permanent and irremovable, and because it contains no lead, Denby glass is safe for use in the dishwasher. Again we recommend the use of low temperatures and liquid detergents in the dishwasher.
Does Denby make Products for anyone else?
No, any products designed and manufactured by Denby are sold under the Denby brand name worldwide. We have recently collaborated with a number of retailers to create ranges exclusive to them, but these products still feature the Denby brand name.
How long will a pattern be available for and how will I know if the pattern I collect is to be discontinued?
Denby gives its customers one years notice of discontinuation on all patterns and operates The Denby for Life Promise - register your details and the Denby pattern you collect with us and we will tell you, 12 months in advance, of any plans to stop making it. The Denby Promise offers many other benefits - see the Denby Promise page for details.
