The Heritage Collection

Denby’s new Heritage Collection is inspired by our rich 200 year old design archives.

Creating the feel of a modern country English home there are three tableware ranges with the kitchen at its heart, each drawing on Denby’s historic shapes, glaze and decorative techniques.

Handcrafted in Derbyshire, England, all three patterns have distinctive rustic speckle glazes featuring a golden rim on the edges and ridges of plates with the option of beautifully accented patterns on a small selection of pieces.

Boasting subtle elements from the archives such as elegant scrolled handles on mugs, and also jugs from the Coronation Mugs for HRH Queen Elizabeth II. The jug shape is inspired by our iconic 1920’s shapes.

The Heritage Collection - Pavilion:

Duck-egg blue with speckle and cream are the predominant colours of the range accented by a 1950’s graphic motif on four pieces. Click here to view Pavilion.

The Heritage Collection - Veranda:

A buttery shade of yellow is the base for this range which will suit most interiors. There are four pieces in this accent range which feature a stylised ‘folk’ look taking the 1960’s as its inspiration. Click here to view Veranda.

The Heritage Collection stoneware is safe for use in the Dishwasher, Microwave, Oven and Freezer.

Kitchen Collection

Reflecting the trend for dining in the kitchen, Denby has launched The Kitchen Collection. Appealing to new customers and Denby Collectors alike, the range includes practical everyday essential items, plus some quirky pieces which are ideal for displaying on your work surfaces.

The Kitchen Collection is available in four colour-ways, and forms a compact and unique range in its own right but also blends perfectly with our popular ranges of ‘Imperial Blue’, ‘Linen’, ‘Halo’ and ‘White’.

The Kitchen Collection comprises Breakfast Plates, including a Rectangular Plate which can be used as a tray or for presentation, Egg Cup, Trivet, Toast Rack, Storage Jars and three Bowls. The Toast Rack stands alone or sits comfortably on the Rectangular Plate. There are also cute Salt and Pepper Pots in the shape of one of Denby’s iconic teapots which collectors will adore.

Pieces such as the Trivet and Toast Rack are embossed ‘Denby’ offering the reassurance of quality for which the brand is renowned. Intended for daily use The Kitchen Collection has Denby’s inherent strengths and is safe for use in the dishwasher, microwave, oven and freezer.

Daisy Green

The new dinnerware design for 2012 joins the highly successful Monsoon Home Dinnerware Collection by Denby.

Daisy Green is a feminine, floral design in soft green and lilac tones developed from Monsoon’s textile archives. A delicate vintage design on fine cream china ‘Daisy Green’ has essential pieces for eating, drinking and serving.

Despite its delicate appearance ‘Daisy Green’ is both practical and durable and is safe to use in the oven, dishwasher, microwave and freezer.

New from Denby for 2011

Praline

Denby’s new tableware for Spring 2011 is opulent and stylish, in rich chocolate shades with a heavily textured, speckled pattern finished in a smooth high gloss. ‘Praline’ follows the ‘rough-luxe’ trend in a way only Denby can. The trend (a little rough with a lot of luxury!) combines old and new, different colours and textures and is inspired by fashion and home trends.

Produced and decorated by hand in Derbyshire this range has been named after luxurious and indulgent chocolate. ‘Praline’s’ delicious chocolate shades are complemented on some mix and match pieces with a solid band of black called ‘Praline Noir’.

‘Praline’ is at home in a wide range of interior styles and can be dressed up or down to meet the needs of all dining occasions. ‘Praline’ also has the inherent strength of Denby and is safe for use in the dishwasher, microwave, oven and freezer.

There are 26 pieces in the range for eating, drinking, serving and cooking which are available individually or there is a boxed 16 piece starter set. There is also a range of handmade glassware to complement ‘Praline’.

Cosmic

‘Cosmic’ joins the successful Monsoon Home Dinnerware Collection by Denby.

Following the successful launch of four dinnerware designs into the Monsoon Home Collection by Denby in 2009, this season sees a striking new addition. ‘Cosmic’ is a signature pattern from the Monsoon archives which is a stunning contemporary interpretation of a paisley print in deep blue, teal, mauve and lime with soft metallic highlights.

Beautifully crafted on fine, soft cream china the ‘Cosmic’ range includes 13 essential dining pieces for eating, drinking and serving. Stylish, practical and durable – ‘Cosmic’ can be used in the oven, dishwasher, microwave and freezer.

White by Denby Coupes

‘White’ goes contemporary with the introduction of ‘White by Denby Coupes’ - a compact range of seven essential dining pieces which blends with the popular ‘White by Denby’ and ‘White Squares’ tableware. Collectively these ranges create an extensive mix and match range.

‘White by Denby Coupes’ feature a simple bead design on crisp white porcelain which displays food perfectly.

Easy to live with, the new range will complement both modern and traditional styles and can be dressed to meet all dining occasions. Competitively priced, the items include (prices shown are recommended retail) Dinner Plate £8.00, Salad Plate £7.00 and Tea Plates £6.00, Pasta Bowl £8.00 and Soup/Cereal bowls £8.00, Mug £8.00 and an iconic Serving Bowl with Cover £34.00. There is also a 16 piece boxed gift set with a promotional price of £99.00.

Manufactured from porcelain to achieve a crisp, white, glossy finish the range is suitable for oven to table use. All items can, of course, be safely used in the dishwasher, freezer, oven and microwave. Denby also has an extensive range of glassware and accessories to complement all its tableware ranges.

Denby Employee Erica Coombes wins Housewares Industry Retail Employee of the Year

Denby employee Erica Coombes, has been recognised nationally for her enthusiasm, professionalism and outstanding contribution to retailing housewares.

Erica, who is the Buyer and Manager of the Cookery Emporium at Denby Visitor Centre has been awarded the title ‘Retail Employee of the Year’ for Excellence in Housewares Retailing. The award scheme is organised by ‘Progressive Housewares Magazine’, a leading Housewares trade magazine

David Bolsher, Denby Marketing & Retail Director says ‘Erica is very popular with our customers. She is a dedicated member of the Denby Retail Team and her enthusiasm and positive outlook creates a good team atmosphere and relaxed shopping environment. She takes time to understand her customers and this is reflected in the number of regular visitors looking for the new products she has sourced from unusual baking tins to traditional children’s toys for our gift shop. Erica is also very involved in setting up the programme of events held at the Centre including the Christmas Fayre on 3-5 December and Snowland from 2nd December.’

Erica who has worked for 16 years in the Housewares industry says she was ‘both thrilled and surprised to win’. Erica also said ‘the Award reflects the support and hard work from all the Denby Visitor Centre Staff as we enter the exciting festive season’.

Denby launches Halo range

Epitomising all that is uniquely Denby, ‘Halo’ is a striking new tableware range being launched in Summer 2010. Designed and produced in the heart of the Derbyshire countryside, ‘Halo’ tableware is the result of skills passed down through generations. Creating a sophisticated balance between contemporary design and traditional handcrafted pottery, ‘Halo’ has the ability to suit a wide range of interior styles.

Each piece is either dipped or painted by hand by skilled craftspeople to produce an effect unique only to Denby. The result is a textured graduated pattern which gently descends from black through to blue making each piece a work of art. ‘Halo’ also has the inherent strength of Denby making it safe for use in the dishwasher, microwave, oven and freezer.

There are 21 pieces in the range for eating, drinking, serving and cooking which are available individually or there is a boxed 16 piece starter set. Examples of recommended retail prices are: £12.00 for a dinner plate and £10.50 for a large mug.

A booklet is available giving information on ‘Halo’ and telling the Denby Stoneware Story. The range will carry a new style of Denby branding in the form of labels and swing tags emphasising ‘Made in England’.

Denby acquires famous Burleigh Pottery

Denby Holdings Limited, the parent company of Denby Pottery, the well known UK ceramics and consumer goods manufacturer, today confirmed its rescue of Burgess, Dorling and Leigh Limited, the manufacturer of Burleigh pottery.

Established in 1851, Burleigh has been creating unique handcraft products for nearly 160 years. Every piece of Burleigh is still made in the authentic Victorian pottery, at Middleport in Stoke on Trent, using the original machinery and processes. Burleigh is one of the last potteries in the world to use the traditional and timeless skills of underglaze tissue printing which is a 200 year old English process. Their products are famous around the world for the signature blue and white floral designs strongly influenced by nature. Burleigh offers a wide collection of patterns and shades perfect to mix and match to create the signature Burleigh look and takes it far beyond a traditional tableware offering.

Burleigh’s Victorian model Pottery and Factory Shop is located in an attractive setting next to the Trent and Mersey canal in Stoke-on-Trent. The factory retains much of its original Victorian character, manufacturing methods and traditions, having converted from running on steam power just three years ago, and operates a popular Visitors Centre. Burleigh product is found in exclusive retailers such as Liberty, Fortnum and Mason and Harrods and its unique attributes have broad appeal. Historically the business has also manufactured product for premium American brands such as Ralph Lauren and Williams Sonoma.

The team at Denby are aiming to build on Burleigh’s unique brand proposition to bring this product to a wider audience and develop Burleigh as a niche British heritage brand alongside Denby, which celebrated its 200th anniversary last year following its own restructuring and refinancing by Valco Capital Partners, the private equity arm of Hilco UK.

Spring 2010 New Product Launches

Amethyst

The semi-precious stone, ‘Amethyst’ was the inspiration for this new gloriously deep and dramatic tableware pattern. The round curvy shapes of the range create a contemporary and sophisticated surface to present the glossy purple glaze to great effect.

For formal dining the range creates a welcoming table, rich in colour but for more informal dining there is an option to add the lively personality of ‘Amethyst Stone’ accent pieces. Plates and bowls are available in both designs to mix and match.

Denby’s love of food and drink is evident in the range with extra large gourmet pieces for impressive entertaining, an extra generous 6 cup teapot and both the teacup and mug fit into the tea saucer for flexibility.

Whilst ‘Amethyst’ tableware may resemble a jewel this is, of course, Denby with it’s inherent practical qualities and the range is safe for use in the dishwasher, oven, microwave and freezer.

An elegant range of glassware complements the range including red and white wine glasses plus large and small tumblers.

Bone China - Grace

Elegance with attitude - for those requiring ‘White’ tableware with real character!

The clean, simple lines of ‘Grace’ tableware are reminiscent of the ‘streamlining’ trends of the 1930’s following in the wake of the ‘Deco’ period. This sleek fine bone china delivers a unique modern range with an off symmetry effect on some of the key character pieces which is carried off with real poise.

The range includes 18 essential dining pieces including rimmed dinner plates, large and small mugs, gourmet plates and bowls with a unique lidded serving dish.

There is a range of glassware and textiles from ‘China by Denby’ to complement ‘Grace'.

‘Grace’ is suitable for use in the dishwasher, microwave and freezer.

James Martin Dine and Serve

Working in some of the World’s top restaurants James Martin knows how to impress with great food and stylish presentation. His expertise has helped to shape a truly unique range of dining and serving pieces.

Generously sized, not only does ‘Dine’ create a stylish blank canvass for all amateur chefs, the innovative pieces make even the simplest food look stunning.

Five new square place setting items (includes plates, bowls and mug) perfectly complement the existing range. Each piece features the signature pleat design.

Joining the range are also five new ‘Serve’ pieces (3 serving dishes, a divided dish and large platter). The ‘Serve’ pieces make eye catching individual centre pieces or they sit comfortably within the James Martin ‘Dine’ range.

Get Cooking with Denby - new Cookshop range launched.

Denby takes its love of cooking and food so seriously it has launched its own ‘Cookshop’ range which comprises Cookware made from Stainless Steel, Cast Aluminium & Anodised, Cast Iron Pans, Bakeware, Utensils and Textiles. Renowned for quality & style Denby has lavished the attention to detail given to its tableware on its new ‘Denby Cookshop’ range.

Stainless Steel Pans

A range of 10 Stainless Steel Pans offers a complete choice of all the pans you will ever need to fry, sauté and boil.

Stylish and modern, Denby’s Stainless Steel Pans are made from the highest grade 18/10 stainless steel with 5mm aluminum encapsulated bases to ensure even cooking without sticking or burning.

The saucepans and sauté pans are accompanied by tempered glass lids enabling both saucepan and lid to go in the oven and the fry pans and sauté pans benefit from the German superior non-stick coating which aids low fat cooking. The riveted stainless steel handles have been designed for style, comfort and safety.

Anodised Pans

The professionals' choice; at the forefront of Cooking technology, Anodised cookware conducts heat superbly and is exceptionally strong. Each item is coated with a triple layer of Teflon ™ Select for healthy low fat cooking and its essential non-stick quality.

An extensive range of 12 pans includes: 4 size saucepans which are oven proof, a selection of frying pans, a wok and a square grill pan. The riveted stainless steel handles have been designed for style, comfort and safety. In true professional style these pans are washed by hand.

Cast Aluminium Pans

A range of 9 pans produced in heavy gauge aluminium includes 5 frying pans (2 lidded) a wok, 2 grill pans and an oblong roaster.

Benefiting from a triple layer of non-stick coating for healthier cooking the Cast Aluminium range is suitable for use on all stoves with the exception of induction. All items in the range are dishwasher safe.

Cast Iron

Denby’s Cast Iron casseroles are suitable for all cooking methods including induction and ceramic hobs and can withstand high temperatures. Crafted from cast molten iron and enamelled inside and out producing a stunning finish the range is energy efficient being fast to heat up and cool down and has excellent heat diffusion which is ideal for slow cooking.

Available in Red, Black and Cream the range includes 3 round casseroles of 21cm, 24cm and a shallow casserole dish of 30 cm; an oval casserole of 27 cm and a square griddle pan. Dishwasher safe.

Suggested retail prices are from £60.00 to £75.00.

Bakeware

An essential range of 12 high quality bakeware items from baking trays, loaf tins, cup cake and muffin trays to springform cake tins. All produced from 1mm thick heavy gauge carbon steel with a non-stick coating to prevent warping. All items within the range are dishwasher safe.

Suggested retail prices start from £8.00 to £14.00.

Knives & Blocks

The Denby knives are produced from tapered ground quality steel providing strength, durability and a long lasting cutting edge. There are two ranges available and each knife can be purchased as a separate item:

Easygrip is a range of 7 knives made stainless steel with a black rubberised safe grip handle designed to fit in your hand perfectly.

The second range of 9 knives is produced from High Carbon stainless steel with brushed steel handles which are ergonomically well balanced for ease of use, safety and comfort.

To store the Denby knives there is a range or premium bamboo knife blocks available in 5, 7 and generic slots.

Suggested prices in the range are from £6.00 to £100.00.

Utensils and Gadgets

The comprehensive range of 27 utensils and gadgets are smart and stylish and made from high quality stainless steel - as you would expect from Denby.

Kitchen essentials include serving spoons for every occasion, skimmers, potato mashers and peelers and the more specialist tools such as pizza cutters and pastry wheel. There are also nylon utensils for use with pans with non-stick coating.

Cutlery

Denby launches Sienna and Jet Skyline

Sienna

A tableware range with a certain attitude! Sienna has a bold rich pattern in opulent hues of matt brown with blue and bright turquoise which are combined through an ‘Ellipse’ pattern. Reminiscent of the distinctive designs of the 1960’s and ‘70’s Sienna brings a rich pallet to the Denby portfolio.

Designed with food and drink very much in mind the range incorporates the inherent qualities of Denby along with special attention to design details from gourmet pieces for impressive entertaining to jugs designed to fit perfectly into the fridge door.

Jet Skyline

Tableware for city living. Jet Skyline is sleek and contemporary with matt black and gloss highlights reminiscent of a city skyline at night. Comprising 12 essential pieces for eating, drinking and serving Jet Skyline can be mixed with the monochrome of Denby’s best selling ‘Jet’ ranges.

Denby Celebrates 200 years with its Bicentenary Birthday Party

Denby Pottery’s 200th anniversary of producing high quality pottery in the UK is being celebrated on 27th & 28th June 2009 with a big birthday party to be held at the Denby Visitor Centre.

Denby has a long and rich history and has evolved to meet the changing needs of society and for generations has been at the heart of the home. It was founded as a manufacturer of bottles and household goods (the Denby Hot Water Bottle kept feet warm throughout the Napoleonic Wars). It has also helped to sustain Britain through its first ‘dot.com’ revolution in the 1870’s (when telegraphic insulators were one of Denby’s biggest sellers), the Great Depression (when there was huge demand for Denby’s brightly coloured art ware) and World War II (“utility” brown teapots helped sustain the home front). Today Denby pottery remains the number one choice for the bride in the UK.

To mark Denby’s 200th birthday there are a series of new product launches and events throughout 2009. We are also holding a series of events at Denby’s stockists across the UK, Ireland and America. However, the highlight of the celebration will be held at Denby’s award winning Visitor Centre, which will host the Bicentenary Celebration Party during the weekend of 27th and 28th June commencing at 10 am on both days.

To mark Denby’s Bicentenary there will be an extra 20% off almost everything in Denby’s Factory Outlets across the UK and in the Home Store, Factory Shop, Garden, Gift and Emporia Shops at Denby Visitor Centre between 26th June and 2nd July.

All are welcome to join the festivities.

The Celebration Party at Denby will be held throughout the weekend, with Craftroom Tours where there is an opportunity to learn about Denby past and present with a special ‘kids go free’ (when accompanied by a paying adult) over the weekend. There will be many other attractions for all the family including a genuine Victorian Funfair featuring Helter Skelter, Carousel and Ferris Wheel rides (£1 per ride), live bands on Saturday, plus children’s entertainment with Pinxton Puppet shows, face painting and much more over both days.

For those with a competitive spirit, Denby will be holding a Baking Competition, (for which entries should be brought in by 10am on Saturday 27th for judging) There are three categories: the Bramley Apple Pie, which is also in its bicentenary year, Sponge Cakes and a Junior Competition for children under the age of 14.

Photographs chronicling Denby’s past will be on display and on Sunday Denby antique experts Graham and Alva Key will give Denby antiques/collectables valuations for a small fee for charity. Also on Sunday there will be a Gift Fayre with over 25 stalls selling quality handmade gifts.

And if all this leaves you with an appetite there will be a barbeque in the courtyard plus a Food Fayre featuring quality locally made foods on both days.

Entrance to the event is free for all the family.

Natural Pearl

Denby’s special birthday launch is ‘Natural Pearl’ – a tableware range on a new “Bicentennial” shape. Designed in-house by Denby’s respected Design Team and produced at its pottery in Derbyshire, ‘Natural Pearl’ is modern, sophisticated and poised to join Denby’s new generation of ‘Iconic Classics’. In lustrous, pearlescent tones on round curvy shapes, the range has a natural, organic feel creating a premium tableware range which is at ease for both formal and informal dining.

Especially suitable as a Bridal pattern, the range includes 19 pieces for eating, drinking and serving. Distinctive features of ‘Natural Pearl’ are an extra generous teapot and a tea saucer which fits both the small mug and teacup, and for impressive entertaining there are extra large gourmet bowls.

Although appearing as precious as a gem, ‘Natural Pearl’ is suitable for use in the dishwasher, oven, microwave and freezer. The suggested retail prices for are teacup £9.50, saucer £8.00, teapot £54.00 (above) wide rimmed dinner plate £13.50, small mug £11.50.

James Martin Dine

‘Denby James Martin Dine’ is stylish, captivating and unique. It breaks the mould of traditional white porcelain tableware using a striking yet simple design, bringing a ‘restaurant’ look to your table. ‘Denby James Martin Dine’ ensures every meal time is a special dining occasion.

White porcelain is a favourite for amateur and professional chefs alike creating a blank canvas to present all levels of culinary skills at their best. Working in some of the top restaurants in the world, James’s expertise has influenced the range which includes wide generous-rimmed plates, a selection of bowls for stylish presentation, a leaf platter and pinch bowls. Whether you prefer Espresso, Latte or Mocha there is a suitable mug available for your favourite hot drink.

Although James may not be at your side helping to cook a dish to dazzle your guests, his tableware range will serve and present your food in a professional style. Denby Celebrates 200 Years!

In 2009 Denby celebrates 200 years of producing pottery in Derbyshire. Renowned for its quality and durability Denby’s products have evolved to meet the ever changing needs of consumers. You would be forgiven for thinking Denby Pottery has always produced tableware, but in fact it has produced all manner of ceramic items from ink bottles, hot water bottles, fine artware pieces to the well known and loved tableware of today. Denby has a fascinating history which is being celebrated by the launch of a brand new shaped tableware range and for this special year only, there are nine limited edition pieces in the form of mini One Cup Teapots and extra large One Pint Mugs to celebrate in style!

One Cup Teapot

Available for the Bicentenary year only are six One Cup Teapots in ‘Pure Green’, ‘Imperial Blue’, ‘Linen’, ‘Truffle’, ‘Jet’, and ‘China by Denby’. The mini Teapots are ideal gifts for Collectors (of teapots and Denby) but, of course, being Denby are practical to use too! The teapots are gift boxed in beautiful packaging with black silhouette images of popular Denby pieces over the years. The suggested retail price for these highly desirable One Cup Teapots is £50.00. Limited to a production run of 3,000 per pattern, each teapot comes with a numbered certificate of authenticity.

One Pint Mug

Limited to production for this special year is a large One Pint Mug - excellent for that first welcoming drink of morning tea and a fantastic gift for the man in your life! Available in the iconic ‘Craftmans’ shape in ‘Imperial Blue’, ‘Regency Green’ and ‘Linen’ to celebrate 200 years in style! Suggested retail price is £25.00.

The ‘One Cup Teapots’ and ‘One Pint Mugs’ will carry the official bicentenary backstamp. Denby’s stoneware Bicentenary pieces are produced at the pottery in Derbyshire and offer the inherent strength and durability for which Denby is world famous.

Pure Green – The Official Bicentenary Pattern

A totally new contemporary tableware range both in terms of colour and shape welcomes in Denby’s bicentenary year. Designed in-house, as with all Denby ranges, ‘Pure Green’ is subtle in tone with curvy shapes, and judging by initial reactions to the range is set to become Denby's next generation of iconic style. Sophisticated enough for formal dining but bearing the practical qualities inherently Denby, 'Pure Green' will be just as suitable for more relaxed dining occasions. There are 19 pieces in the range including extra large gourmet plates and bowls for impressive entertaining. An extra generous teapot providing 6 welcoming cups of tea for family gatherings and for occasions when a normal teacup just isn't big enough, the small mug also fits the tea saucer! Spring 2008 launches - Mist, China Squares, Accessories

Denby’s new bridal tableware pattern for Spring 2008 is ‘Mist’. In diffused muted blues and misty hues the range consists of 36 pieces including decorated pieces featuring a textural multi-layered stripe called ‘Mist Falls’.

All carefully designed and produced at Denby in Derbyshire, the range takes its inspiration from contemporary ‘neutral’ tones which are easy to live with and have long lasting appeal.

Each piece in the soft and ergonomically shaped Mist range has been developed with a real practicality and purpose in keeping with Denby’s ethos of ‘Love Food Love Denby’ to ensure they are ready to become part of life’s great food moments once they reach you.

Mist includes generous teapots, milk jugs designed to fit into fridge door and ingenious ‘buffet saucers’ which incorporate a clever well which fits the mug, cup, rice bowl and also a glass dessert bowl – a real conversation piece. Equally appealing for impressive entertaining or mid-week teatime, the range includes pieces for eating, drinking, cooking and serving.

Despite it’s soft and subtle palette, Mist and Mist Falls have the characteristic strengths of Denby - all pieces being oven, microwave, freezer and dishwasher safe.

To complement Mist and Mist Falls there is a matching range of handmade glassware by Denby comprising champagne flutes, white and red wine glasses, small and large tumblers and dessert bowl. Being Denby, of course, they are safe for use in the dishwasher.

To add the finishing touches to the table with confidence there are also napkins, table runners, wooden coasters and placemats.

China Squares

The extensive appeal of China by Denby is about to widen even further with the launch of China Squares. Thoughtfully designed, China by Denby appeals not only to Brides and those who prefer both contemporary minimalist styles and the look of restaurant inspired dining, but also to those who prefer the qualities and feel of traditional fine china. The five new Squares pieces are: Dinner Plate, Dessert/Salad Plate, Tea Plate, Bowl and Tea Saucer all of which feature soft curved edges which perfectly complement the existing China by Denby range. Often favoured instead of traditional round plates, Square Plates particularly suit international food styles but retain the simplicity of china.

The elegance of all China by Denby belies its durability which, being Denby, has not been sacrificed – it’s safe for use in the microwave, dishwasher and freezer.

Accessories – Interior design for your table

Denby’s new range of table accessories provides the perfect choice for dressing your table in style, with confidence, and without fuss. There is a range to co-ordinate with each of Denby’s tableware ranges but they also enhance any table setting. Each range includes Tablemats and Coasters in cork, wood or leather; Textile Napkins and Table Runners.

Denby carried out extensive research to ensure their accessories provided all the key ingredients for success! Denby table accessories are durable, won’t date and are easy care. Tablemats are large enough to hold place setting pieces but not overcrowd the table, offer a good degree of heat resistance and are ‘wipeable’. Napkins and Table Runners can cope with food spillages and are washable at 40oC and are easy to iron. All these qualities and interior design for your table too – it must be Denby!

MBO at Denby

Denby Pottery, the leading manufacturer of premium casual tableware which this year celebrates 200 years of manufacturing, has today confirmed the completion of the £30m sale of its UK and U.S. businesses to a management buyout team led by Garry Biggs, Managing Director.

In recent years, Denby has been trading successfully; however, like many businesses it has struggled to service its debt burden. The buyout, funded by Valco Capital Partners ("VCP"), will enable a substantial restructuring of the business' finances. Over half of the group's £72m debt is being written off as part of the transaction whilst VCP has also provided a working capital facility to the business.

Garry Biggs, Managing Director, said “We are delighted that we have been able to secure a future for The Denby Pottery Company in what are unprecedented times both for the tableware industry and the global economy. The Denby Board look forward to driving sustained growth and continued success in the future and to strengthening its pre-eminent branded position in its international markets.”

Garry Biggs, further commented, “with Denby’s financial position now secure, we are looking to make a number of quality strategic acquisitions in the sector”.
